May the Fourth Be With You

Star Wars Day is fast approaching and Mousetalgia is here to give you some ideas on how to celebrate at home and virtually. The Star Wars fandom spreads far and wide and there are a great number of ways we can get creative at home as well as “gather” over the Internet to give this holiday the recognition it deserves.

Star Wars Day was officially recognized by Star Wars after Disney acquired Lucasfilm in late 2012. By 2013, May the Fourth was celebrated in both Disneyland and Walt Disney World. Just because everyone is at home this year doesn’t mean we can’t keep the annual celebration going. In this post we are going to provide links to different events, shopping, videos, even books that any Jedi master would approve of.

All day on both May the Fourth and Revenge of the Fifth, Emerald City Con and ReedPop are teaming up to bring a virtual convention of interviews, live-tweet reactions, and activities to Star Wars fans. As explained on their website: “Celebrate with Emerald City Comic Con, as well as our sister shows from ReedPop across the U.S.A. to live-tweet movie reactions, watch live interviews, get to know your local community groups and more over these glorious two days.” More information can be found on their website, but here is what their line up looks like for the two day event.

If you have about five hours queue up the Star Wars radio drama from 1981.

While you listen you could get your craft on with some of these ideas.

Laugh it up fuzzballs with this blooper reel.

Don’t forget to take your lightsaber to work and post about it online with all the other Jedis in training. A handy tool not just for fighting Stormtroopers, but also for social distancing.

Don’t worry if you don’t have an official lightsaber from Galaxy’s Edge, you can learn to make your own with this how to guide.

Of course you can watch the films on Disney+ and munch on these recipes at home.

May the Fourth would not be complete without a little shopping. You may need to use your force powers to snag some of the special merchandise being launched on shopdisney.com the morning of May 4th, including the next edition in their Disney Store key collection.

Check out Etsy for a variety of handmade Star Wars art and collectibles, including this adorable Darth Vader print from StudioKaka in Australia.

If you need more Star Wars goodness check out this history of the saga from Wired.

Or read a book that continues the Adventures of the Star Wars galaxy.

How ever you celebrate we want to know! Tag us on social media so we can follow along and celebrate together.

May the force be with you and the Kingdom you must Carpe.
